Eurostar

In September 2007 the Vine & Craven were asked to take part in a photo shoot at a film studio in London.  The film agency had to design and produce an advertising poster to be displayed on the Continent to encourage people to visit Britain on the Eurostar trains.  Two horses, four riders and two couple of hounds went to London to be photographed.  The 'brush' seen on the extreme right of the photo was supplied by the studio!

The photograph was taken in Brussels Station.

Downton Abbey

In March 2010 the Vine & Craven hounds (and some of the mounted field) "starred" in the ITV drama Downton Abbey that was filmed at Highclere Castle.  To see the trailer for the first series click here.

The Kill at Ashdown Park

Fulwar Craven, and his brother William, founded the Craven Hunt.  His love of the chase was legendary and was commemorated in 1743 by an oil painting by James Seymour entitled "The Kill at Ashdown Park"This painting is considered to be the first depiction of fox hunting in art and now hangs in the Tate Britain.

The Craven Hunt Locomotive

A photo of the D49/2 Hunt Class 4-4-0 locomotive "The Craven".  Our neighbours, The Garth also had one named after them.  It is difficult to see, but if you look closely you may make out the nameplate above the large wheel.  It is embossed with "Craven" and above it is a running fox.  With the exception of one which is in a museum (not The Craven), all the Hunt Class locomotives have been scrapped.  Most of the Hunt Class LNER engines were named after the packs in the LNER region.  The reason for the exceptions was that the Director of LNER was Mr. Butler Henderson who lived at Faccombe in our hunt country.
